Tim Burton says work on 'Beetlejuice 2' was “99 per cent done” just before the strike closed production down.

The sequel is a follow-up for 1988’s 'Beetlejuice', and it started filming in London in May earlier this year.

The strike started on July 14, and Burton has now said filming would have finished in less than two days, were it not for the strike.

He told The Independent: “Literally, it was a day and a half. I feel grateful we got what we got… We know what we have to do. It is 99 percent done.”

Burton said he “really enjoyed” directing the sequel, and that it “was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies”.

Warner Bros. hopes to release Beetlejuice 2 on September 6, 2024.

There isn't much known about the film's plot.

Michael Keaton will reprise his title role, and Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara will take part too.

Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux and Jenna Ortega are also set to star.

Jenna became a household name because of her role in Wednesday, also with Tim Burton.

It was finally announced in February of last year.
