Rosie Jones has thanked her friend, fellow comedian Ivo Graham, after he successfully ran the London Marathon while also pushing her around the course in a buggy.
Running a marathon is tough enough for any contestant, but Ivo increased the challenge by training to ensure he could also Rosie around in a chair, meaning both could take part in the race on the big day (21st April).
After the pair crossed the finish line on Sunday, Ivo posted a photo of himself sitting in the buggy and Rosie behind it, along with the caption “Next year.” Rosie then replied to this post on X (formerly Twitter) and added the praise: “This hero pushed me for 26.2 miles. I thought I’d repay the favour.”
Both Ivo and Rosie took part in the London Marathon 2024 in order to raise money for charity, with the Taskmaster star supporting the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Call the Midwife actor supporting Up: the Adult Cerebral Palsy Movement.
Explaining their run challenge on their donation page, the pair wrote: “Ivo is going to run pushing a chair and Rosie is going to sit in that chair and shout at Ivo with a megaphone if he slows down too much.
“They are going to do this for 26.2 miles and they are going to have the time of their lives and they are going to raise as much money as they can for two charities which are very important to them.”
The pair also used this page to update fans with their progress ahead of running the marathon.
Last month, the pair took part in a Victoria Park half marathon as they continued to train for the big event, and shared how though “the weather was SUB OPTIMAL”, their portable speaker “ran out of battery”, and at one point their buggy “grazed, NOT crashed” into another, they had “a brilliant brilliant morning and we’ve been buzzing off it all week.”
Rosie and Ivo weren’t the only celebrities who took on the London Marathon yesterday. Fellow comedian Romesh Ranganathan completed the course, as did TV presenter Joel Dommett - the latter of whom also made his life more difficult by choosing to run the race dressed in The Masked Singer’s Piranha costume.
