Thom Yorke has dropped a new tune which will feature on the sixth season of Peaky Blinders, and another track is set to follow soon.

The Radiohead frontman has shared the first of these two new tunes, titled 5.17, on YouTube ahead of it being used in the final season of the popular BBC drama, which is currently screening on Sunday nights. The third episode of Peaky Blinders’ final season aired last night (March 13th).

Another new Thom Yorke track for Peaky Blinders is set to land soon. It will be called That’s How Horses Are, and is expected to arrive at the start of April.

Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne recently told NME that Thom Yorke and his Radiohead bandmate Jonny Greenwood would be contributing original music for the show. “The music has always been really important historically, and I was keen to bring a dramatic score into it. We’re using that much more in this season. It’s a much heavier season so the score is taking things in a very different direction,” he said.

Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood aren’t just creating music for Peaky Blinders either. The duo are currently teaming up with Sons Of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner in a new group called The Smile.

Having dropped a couple of singles and live-streamed a series of live performances, the trio are touring in Europe in May, before playing two nights at London’s Roundhouse at the end of that month. They will then play in Edinburgh and Manchester at the start of June.

Meanwhile, Jonny Greenwood accepted Paul Thomas Anderson’s award for Best Original Screenplay at the BAFTAs last night, taking to the stage with the film’s star Alana Haim to receive the prize on the director’s behalf.

Anderson won the gong for his latest film Licorice Pizza, for which Radiohead multi-instrumentalist Greenwood composed the score and wrote a new song.
