The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar won’t be the same as Rachel Horne has announced she’s leaving after five years.

The co-host and newsreader revealed this morning (28th March) that she’ll be stepping down, with today being her last day on the show.

Making the announcement live on air, Rachel said: “I am very sad to say that this is my last day on the show. I have loved my time with this team despite and even sometimes because of the 4am alarm. The peace of those early morning hours is very precious.

“We all have many roles in our lives and I am so lucky that mine include mom, wife, sister and friend. They're all central to who I am but I'm also a big fan of work Rachel. She's knowledgeable. She's funny. She likes bright colours and small businesses and she makes sure you get your headlines on the important stories. Even when that news is something that's difficult to blend with a family breakfast show. That's the juggle she pulls off.

Rachel continued: “Being a part of this team has given me a purpose and an identity that I respected and cherished. Work trips to Monaco and Jersey, front row seats to studio sessions by Snow Patrol, selfies with Paris Hilton, sitting in the presence of Tom Hanks, backstage views at CarFest and a VIP pass to run the London Marathon. They were definite perks.

To say thank you to the Virgin Radio team, Rachel added: “To everyone on the Virgin team we stuck together two metres apart during the COVID days, we flew on a private plane and we made radio in a field in Hampshire. For all the hot drinks, the silly jingles, the early morning hugs, the last pens, the squeezed shoulders, the belief in each other. Over the last five years, you have been a huge part of my life.

“It’s all been for you, the listeners. You're brilliant. You're hilarious. You're honest, you're dedicated, and it has been an absolute privilege to serve you every day I've been on this show. Thank you deeply, truly thank you for your time, your energy, your input. Hopefully you'll hear me again soon. Until then, make good choices.”

Giving her traditional yet emotional outro, the broadcaster concluded: “That's your news on Virgin Radio.”

We’ll miss you so much Rachel!
