Stevie Nicks postpones two gigs hours before performing after ‘surgical procedure’ - details

Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks has been forced to pull out of two of her upcoming tour stops after undergoing a “surgical procedure.”

The Edge of Seventeen hitmaker was due on stage tonight (6th July) at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro Arena, as well as Manchester’s Co-op Live on Tuesday (9th July). 

An X post from the OVO Hydro Arena confirmed the news that the gig was being postponed, writing: “Due to a recent leg injury requiring a minor surgical procedure that will need a few days of recovery time, Stevie Nicks’ scheduled performances in Glasgow Saturday 6 July and Manchester Tuesday 9 July have been postponed.”

To reassure fans about her upcoming BST Hyde Park gig, the OVO Hydro added: “More information will be available at point of purchase, ticketholders are advised to hold on to their tickets as rescheduled dates will be announced soon. Stevie looks forward to seeing everyone at Hyde Park in London.”

Stevie’s current UK and Ireland tour is her first time performing solo on this side of the pond for 35 years. She played Wembley Stadium in 2019 as part of Fleetwood Mac. 

Fans will no doubt be thrilled to hear she’ll be back on the road for BST Hyde Park next week (12th July) with the likes of Brandi Carlile, Anna Calvi and Paris Paloma opening the show. 

Speaking about the upcoming gig, Stevie said back in April: “Anything that draws me back to London ~ and therefore to England ~ fills my heart with joy. And to be able to visit and make music… is always a dream come true…”

Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, helping the band to become one of the best-selling music acts of all time. She has also gained eight Grammy Award nominations and two American Music Award nominations as a solo artist.

Stevie recently revealed that Fleetwood are unlikely to ever tour together again following the death of beloved bandmate Christine McVie. 

The Little Lies songwriter died after suffering from a stroke, and had previously been diagnosed with metastatic cancer. 

Her death was a shock to bandmate and good friend Stevie, who has recently admitted the surviving members of Fleetwood couldn't face going up on stage without their celebrated keyboard player. 

In a recent chat with Mojo Magazine, Stevie was asked if there was any chance of getting the band to reunite on stage, and unfortunately for fans, it’s a definite no. 

“Without Christine, no can do,” she confessed. “There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”
