Bill Bailey has shocked his fans on social media by revealing he’s received quite the haircut!

Taking to his Instagram earlier today (27th June), the beloved comedian posted a photograph showing off his new style with the understated caption: “Had a bit of a trim for the summer.”

The photo shows how the comic actor’s trademark ‘skullet’ style has now been shorn, leaving him with an even shaved head and carefully trimmed beard.

“Loved the skullet, but I’m also equally loving the shaved look,” another person commented. “You suit any style!”

Some fans seemed less convinced, or simply more surprised by Bailey’s trim than others. “[This] is potentially the biggest breaking news so far this year,” one shocked person summed up.

“End of an era!” a second person shared, while a third joked: “I have never been so shook by a hair cut. Suits you, but also now questioning my entire existence. Who even am I without Bill Bailey's long hair?”

“Your hair truly was a cornerstone of British light entertainment,” another fan said, before adding: “But short hair really suits you!!”

Prior to his haircut, Bailey recently sat down for an exclusive chat with virginradio.co.uk ahead of his Sky Arts show Bill Bailey’s Musical Master Crafters: Juniors beginning to air.

Opening up about the show, which saw him help to encourage youngsters to get in touch with their creative side, the musician and comedian said: “Music is something that has been a part of my life since I was a tiny little kid, even before I went to school. I always played an instrument, played the piano, taught myself guitar. It also teaches you a lot of stuff about other things as well. It's not just about the performance.

“What’s so important about this is it's not just about considering performance or being the person on stage or in front of the camera. It's about all the other aspects of the arts, which are equally important but require different skills.”
