U2 are back with a brand new single, their first new song in two years, and have shared a music video to go with it.
Whilst the Irish band have released newly recorded versions of classic tracks Pride, With or Without You, One and Beautiful Day from their album Songs of Surrender this year, Atomic City represents the first new music that fans have heard since their 2021 single Your Song Saved My Life, from the animated musical comedy movie Sing 2.
They have also shared a new music video to go with the new track.
In the anthemic chorus, Bono sings: “I’m free, where you are is where I’ll be, so unexpectedly.”
The new single was produced by Jacknife Lee and Steve Lillywhite and recorded at Sound City in LA.

The song is being described in a statement as a "three-and-a-half minute homage to the magnetic spirit of 70s post punk with a nod to Blondie, whose pioneering work with Giorgio Moroder inspired and influenced the band."
Whether Atomic City will feature on any new album remains to be seen. U2’s last album of completely new material was all the way back in 2017, when they released Songs Of Experience. Earlier this year, album Songs Of Surrender was a reimagining and rerecording of 40 songs from their extensive back-catalogue.
Atomic City is another name for Las Vegas, and the band will today (29th September) kick off their residency at the new Vegas venue, MSG Sphere. The rockers announced the residency during the 2023 Super Bowl in February, and said that the focus of the run of shows will be their seventh studio album, Achtung Baby.
Atomic City is out now.
