TV presenter Dan Walker has updated fans after being involved in a terrifying car accident.
The Strictly Come Dancing alum was knocked off his bike by a car on Monday (20th February), and had to be checked out by an ambulance crew and police following the scary incident.
Taking to Twitter, Dan shared he was “glad to be alive” after the accident, but tried his best to smile in a bloodied and bruised selfie.
“Blown away by all the lovely messages. Thank you,” he commented: “Just got home from hospital. Battered and bruised but - amazingly - nothing broken.
“Very thankful to still be here. I have no memory of anything and just remember coming round on the tarmac with paramedics & police around me.”
Dan wrote: “The helmet I was wearing saved my life today so - if you’re on a bike - get one on your head. Smashed my watch & phone, ruined my trousers, my bike is a mess but I’m still here.”
He added “Currently eating soup through a straw and being looked after by this gorgeous, tired nurse,” alongside a photo of his adorable dog.
Dan’s famous friends made sure to send their well-wishes in too, with football legend Chris Kamara writing: “Wow glad you are ok’ish Dan,” while journalist Jon Sopel added: “Hope you’re ok my friend. I think you look better than before….Get well…..”
Carol Vorderman commented: “Sending get better soon plasters,” while pro golfer Trevor Immelman replied: “Hope you make a quick recovery my friend.”
While Dan focuses on his recovery, Tessa Chapman will take over his spot presenting Channel 5 News.
Hope you make a speedy recovery Dan!
