S Club 7 singer Jo O’Meara has opened up about her “rough and painful” recovery following her back operation six weeks ago.

Joe spent eight days at Queen’s hospital in Romford after surgeons removed part of a disc in her back and the singer has admitted her recovery has not been easy.

When on Loose Women, she explained: "I'm a lot better than what I was. Yeah, it's been a really rough few months, to be honest. It's been very painful. I've had good days and bad days with it.

"I think sometimes you just got to soldier through it and then other times you just want to know how long the pain is going to last."

Jo had her first surgery in September and has had three more since.

She has previously spoken about her chronic back pain, which she has been suffering with for decades and explained it started when she was in her early 20s.

Jo added: “The sciatica was horrendous. The pain was the worst.”

After speaking to an osteopath, she found out she had a slipped disc that required surgery. Following her operations, she took several medications to ease the pain but said it returned last year with a force.

Jo explained the pain caused her body to go into shock and she had to ring an ambulance. She told The Sun: "I was sobbing and shaking. They came running in but I couldn’t move. Every time I tried to get off the bed I was screaming and sobbing in pain.

"I knew the feeling, but it was ten times worse than what I’ve had before. Back surgery is so complex and every time they go in, they’re just weakening my back. I was absolutely petrified."

This comes after reports that S Club 7 is planning a “massive reunion tour” with the original lineup of Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett onboard.
