Heart warming, and in all honesty body warming news from here in the UK as a thoughtful baker revives a medieval tradition to help people with their heating bills.

In ancient times, each village had one baker’s oven, people bright their pie and dough ready oven ready, the baker would bake them and they’d pay the baker with cash, or goods, or kind.

Now say hello to Ed Hamilton-Trewhitt from Brickyard Bakery just outside Middlesbrough, who’s offered to bake the Christmas cakes or yuletide loaves for everyone in his neighbourhood, to help cut down their fuel bills. Ed already made the good news pages when he diverted the excess heat from his oven to a “warm lounge” so people in the community who couldn’t afford to heat their homes in the day could have somewhere warm to congregate. He even puts on pay-what-you-want cooking classes! What a local hero!!
