Netflix 'signs Avatar and Torchwood stars for upcoming heist film Lift'

Kevin Hart is in good company for his next Netflix project. 

The streaming service has reportedly cast the likes of Avatar’s Sam Worthington, Torchwood actor Burn Gorman and Spider-Man: No Way Home actor Jacob Batalon for heist thriller - Lift. 

Hart is currently on board to play a thief who is persuaded to pull off an impossible mission with his international crew on a jet from London to Zurich. 

According to Deadline, Loki star  Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio, Billy Magnussen, and Paul Anderson are also on board.

Men in Black: International director F. Gary Gray is on board to direct, but no other details are available just yet. 

Before we can check out Sam in Lift, he will reprise his role as Jake Sully in the incredibly long-awaited Avatar sequel - The Way Of Water. 

We were first introduced to the Na’vi tribe all the way back in 2009, and the cinematic marvel is still the highest-grossing movie of all time, having knocked 2019’s Avengers: Endgame off the top spot with a Chinese cinema re-release earlier this year. 

Across the world, the historic flick has earned a whopping $2.8 billion at the box office.

Plans for the sequels started in 2012, and filming for Avatar 2 started in 2017, with the story set around 14 years after the original, with Jake now settling down with Neytiri and their pre-teen children.

The film has already been delayed several times, so fans are eager to see it.

Speaking back in 2020, director James Cameron admitted: "Covid hit us like it hit everybody... We lost about four and a half months of production."

"We're a hundred percent complete on Avatar 2 and we're sort of ninety-five percent complete on Avatar 3," he confirmed.

"We made the first film here in New Zealand, and it's ranked either first or second best country in the world for its Covid response – sometimes Germany's in the number one spot, sometimes New Zealand's in the number one spot. But we're actually able to operate."

Avatar: The Way of Water is expected to land in cinemas on 16th December 2022.
