Bridget Jones actress Renée Zellweger gets engaged to British TV presenter Ant Anstead

Bridget Jones star Renée Zellweger is getting married to British TV presenter Ant Anstead. The Hollywood actress is said to be tying the knot following a 'low-key engagement' to the motor specialist.

Renée, 54, who was previously married to country music star Kenny Chesney in 2005 for four months, began dating Anstead in September 2021 and were recently seen together at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with his children.

The couple have been together for two years and first met on the set of Celebrity IOU: Joyride which Anstead was hosting.

A friend told The Sun: “Renée and Ant are keeping their plans incredibly private, they’re not planning a big public announcement.

“She has been telling her inner circle about organising their nuptials, everything will be very low-key.

“Her relationship with Ant is super strong and they’re madly in love, and they can’t wait to get hitched.”

The English television presenter is a car builder, designer and artist, and is best known for co-presenting the Channel 4 automotive show For the Love of Cars.

The Hollywood star, who was previously engaged to Jim Carrey from 1999 to 2000, posed with Ant's children, Archie, 16, and Amelie, 19, in a snap taken before Goodwood Festival.

Anstead captioned it: "How it started, How it ended," and called his kids 'absolute utter LEGENDS'.

A friend of the actress told People that Renee is 'head over heels' and has 'never been happier' in a relationship. 

"She thinks this is the real deal. She's never been happier. They're a great couple. Sometimes two people just meet and click, and the timing is right."

The source added: "Renée is creative...and often goes for guys who think out of the box... Both of them are private and dislike public scrutiny, so they have that in common. He's a creative guy with lots of interests."

In 2021, Anstead shared a selfie of them together kissing with the caption: "WOW there is something very special about New Orleans!

"The late night wandering, the mind blowing history this nerd loves, the architecture, the blend of cultures, the food, the people, the smells and noises! All made made [sic] better by magical company to share it with."

The couple have been living together at Anstead's home in Laguna Beach, California, near to Anstead's 3-year-old son, Hudson — whom he shares with his ex, US TV presenter Christina Hall.
