Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley has teased a possible return to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! following rumours of an upcoming spin-off show.

With reports that there might be a spin-off recorded in South Africa in July which would bring back previous I’m A Celeb... contestants from the past 20 years, Richard said he has “unfinished business” with the show.

The presenter was part of the 2021 series but pulled out after he suffered a health scare. Speaking on GMB today (May 16th) he said: “I had this funny turn, I got dehydrated as it turned out, and so that meant I broke the Covid bubble as they insisted I went to hospital.”

Explaining why that meant he had to quit the series, he said: “They wouldn’t let me back in because of Covid, that was the only reason.”

When entertainment reporter Richard Arnold asked if he’d do the series again, the host replied: “I have to say, it does feel like unfinished business.”

However, he added: “On the other hand, I have a motto ‘never go back, just keep moving forward.’ I’m not sure.”

It’s not clear whether Richard was referring to the idea of returning to the main series of I’m A Celeb or its rumoured spin-off, but according to Metro the special new South Africa-based version of the show will be shown in 2023.

It is understood that Ant & Dec will host and that, as you would expect, there will be trials and camp living, but, according to Metro’s source, it will offer “fresh and exciting new twists on the format.”

Because it would be recorded this summer and not shown until next year, there would be no public voting.

And fans of the regular I’m A Celeb show will be excited that the show will be returning later this year, and that it will be back in Australia, after being set in Wales’ Gwrych Castle for the last two years due to the pandemic.
