He’s only just emerged from the Celebrity Big Brother house, but Colson Smith is already doing his day job again and says he is “buzzing to be back in Manchester”.

The soap star came third in the reality series when it reached its climax on Friday night (22nd March). He finished behind winner David Potts from Ibiza Weekender and Strictly Come Dancing professional Nikita Kuzminwhich, who was runner-up.

Colson, who plays Craig Tinker in Coronation Street, has revealed that he was given a script for the long-running soap opera within hours of leaving the CBB house.

Appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain today (25th March), he said: “Literally straight out the house, slept in London, had the wrap party, into a car, script straight in front of me, ready to get back on the beat!”

“But today I only have one line. So you know, I can’t complain today, they’re easing me back in Weatherfield.”

When asked what the line is, the actor, who was speaking while wearing his character’s police constable uniform, said: “The line is, ‘How old are you?’. Easy that, innit? What an easy day’s work!” He joked: “It’s taken me all weekend as well!”

During his chat on GMB, Colson said that his Corrie co-stars have been “so supportive” and he admitted he feels “so lucky” that he works with “such a great group of people”.

He said that he is “excited” to “find out what they enjoyed in the show and share stories of my time in the house.”

Regarding his time in the Celebrity Big Brother house, the telly star said: “I’m not quite sure what I expected, but it was certainly more than I could have ever imagined.

“I feel so privileged to have been a small part of the iconic show, and I’m also buzzing to be back in Manchester now.”

Saying that he is “100% going to watch” Celeb Big Brother back, he said: “I am looking forward to, when I get the time, sitting back and watching through it all and seeing all my memories because I guess that’s a nice thing about it is I’ve got it forever. I can always remember what happened in my time as a housemate.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV. Stream Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 4.
