The weather is getting colder, but things are heating up at the box office!

From heartwarming journeys to brand new adaptations, there’s plenty on offer to keep us warm in cinema seats this autumn.

Here are the films to watch out for at the cinema in October 2023:

The Great Escaper (6th October)

Michael Caine plays a man on a mission in his latest movie, The Great Escaper.

The film is based on the true story of a World War II veteran who escapes from his nursing home to attend the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in France.

The Great Escaper also stars the late, great actress Glenda Jackson, who died aged 87 in June, a few months after filming, meaning this is her last ever film role.

Killers Of The Flower Moon (20th October)

Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Nero share the screen in Martin Scorsese’s latest on-screen epic - Killers Of The Flower Moon

The historical drama is based on the harrowing true story of the ‘reign of terror’ that left two dozen Native Americans dead.

Set in the 1920s, the movie will centre on the FBI’s investigation into the murders after the Osage tribe became millionaires overnight after oil was discovered beneath their land. This, of course, attracted a lot of attention- and not the good kind.

Leo stars as Ernest Burkhart, who arrives in Oklahoma where the indigenous Osage people reside, as he investigates the murders of several members of the tribe.

De Niro also stars as Burkhart’s uncle, rancher William Hale, who encourages him to marry Lily Gladstone’s Mollie Burkhart, a member of the tribe, in order to tap into their newfound wealth.

Foe (20th October)

Normal People star Paul Mescal and Little Women’s Saoirse Ronan team up in the psychological thriller Foe.

The complex film follows Henrietta (Ronan) and Junior (Mescal), a married couple whose lives are turned upside down when a stranger arrives at their farm and informs Junior he will be sent to a large space station, and Henrietta will be left in the company of a robot.

Foe, also starring Aaron Pierre and LaKeith Stanfield, is based on the book of the same name by Iain Reid.

Doctor Jekyll (27th October)

Prepare for a thrilling twist on a classic tale as Eddie Izzard steps into the iconic role of Doctor Jekyll in Hammer Films' upcoming release, Doctor Jekyll

In this modern take on the timeless story of double identities, Izzard brings to life Nina Jekyll, a notorious doctor who enlists the help of ex-convict Rob, played by Scott Chambers.

Little does Rob know, he's about to become entangled in a sinister master plan crafted by Nina's alter-ego, Rachel Hyde.
