Ryan Reynolds is set to star in an upcoming comedy Boy Band for Paramount.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will be serving as producer on the movie, which he co-wrote with Jesse Andrews (Me, Earl And The Dying Girl).

Long-time collaborator and Deadpool producer Shawn Levy is also involved in the project. The pair have worked together on several films recently, including Free Guy (2021) and The Adam Project (2022)- both of which Levy served as director and producer on.

Details about Boy Band being kept quiet for now but it has been described as a “boy band reunion movie”. It’s also not clear what role Reynolds would take on but he’s already tried his hand at singing and dancing in the Christmas music comedy Spirited (2022).

In the meantime, the actor will be working on the third Deadpool movie, which will also see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine.

Reynold’s and Jackman announced the exciting news in September last year at the D23 conference in a hilarious video. Jackman played the character in nine films within the X-Men franchise and supposedly retired from playing him in the 2017 movie Logan.

For several years, the rights to the X-Men franchise have been owned by Fox, so characters have never crossed over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is now produced by Disney. However, Fox was recently acquired by Disney in 2019 and fans have since speculated whether the X-Men could now be making an appearance in Marvel movies.

Earlier this month, it was also announced that Emma Corrin, known playing Princess Diana in The Crown, would also be joining the cast for Deadpool 3.

Taking to Twitter, Reynolds shared a photo of Emma with the caption: “New addition to the family! The Deadpool family, for clarity. Which is just like a real family except with less swearing… Welcome, Emma Corrin!”
