Ralf Little has caused quite a stir with his latest social media post.

The Death In Paradise star, who plays DI Neville Parker on the BBC crime series, sent fans into a frenzy after uploading a throwback photo to his Instagram page.

The post seemed harmless at first, but Ralf had fans worried with his words.

Alongside a picture of Ralf enjoying the sunshine on the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, the Royale Family actor wrote: “28th May 2019. The Cliffs of Moher, Ireland. The next day I got the call to say I’d been cast in @deathinparadiseofficial and my life changed forever. Not a day goes by I don’t appreciate how lucky I am. Appreciate every one of you who watched and took DI Neville Parker into your hearts.”

It was Ralph’s use of the past tense that had fans concerned about the fate of Parker, and many viewers rushed to the social media account to make sure their favourite detective wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

One fearful fan commented: “Ooo past tense????? Please just be a slip .. “watched” “took”…,” while another wrote: “‘Watched’ ‘took’ past tense? Surely not!”

Realising his mistake pretty early on, Ralf made sure to correct himself, and reassured loyal viewers he will be back for more series to come.

The former football player wrote: “Watched it when I first started I mean. Never know how am audience is going to react to an incoming character, especially on a show that’s so well loved.”

Phew! That’s a relief!

Meanwhile, fans have a little longer to wait for the new series, but there will be lots more to enjoy when the new Death In Paradise spin-off comes to the small screen.

Kris Marshall will return as DI Humphrey Goodman for the new series, where he will reunite with Sally Bretton playing his fiancée Martha Lloyd as they attempt to “navigate a new life together in the idyll of rural Britain.”

According to Kris, the typical format of Death in Paradise episodes will be “spun on its head” for this new series.

Speaking to Radio Times, he said: "It's carrying on from where we left Humphrey Goodman and Martha [Sally Bretton], with their new bucolic south-western lifestyle.

"The classic Death in Paradise way of wrapping up the show is spun on its head a bit – not every episode is a murder – so more sheep rustling and stuff like that! It puts an English Riviera spin on the show people know and love. Who needs the Caribbean?"

A release date for Beyond Paradise has not yet been announced.
