The hit BBC One drama is set to return this Sunday.

We have all been patiently waiting since we were left on that incredible (but horrible) cliffhanger at the end of season five, which aired back in 2019.

Finally, after a string of delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic, we shall be seeing the Shelby family on our screens once again at the end of this week.

Of course, the last time we saw Tommy Shelby he had a gun pointed at his temple, and many fans have spent the last couple of years speculating who on earth the ‘Black Cat’ could be.

It is no surprise to hear, therefore, we are in for an explosive sixth and final season.

There will be no Game Of Thrones-style disappointment for fans here, as Finn Cole, who plays Michael Gray in the series, has promised fans will be satisfied with the ending.

In an exclusive for Metro, the actor revealed: “This story is so exciting and so full of energy that when I read the final page of the final episode, I was convinced that this is one of the best endings of a TV show I’ve seen for a very long time.”

We can hardly wait for Sunday to come around.

Finn’s character Michael first appeared on the series in 2014 as the estranged and secret son of the Shelby matriarch Aunt Pol, who was played by the late Helen McCroy.

Her absence will, of course, be felt in this season, and the first episode will be dedicated to her.

Speaking about working with the actress in the same interview, Cole said: “Helen was someone who was so full of energy and so exciting to work with- she was extraordinary.

“She was a vital part of the show for many years, and we all felt very lucky to have worked with her.”

The new season of Peaky Blinders is expected to focus on the storyline around Gina Gray’s family and will follow on from Michael’s attempted coup in the season five finale.

We’ll also be seeing the return of Sam Claflin as Sir Oswald Mosely, and the teaser hints at Tom Hardy’s return as Alfie Solomons. Stephen Graham is also making his Peaky Blinders debut with a new character and new conflicts.

Peaky Blinders Season 6 begins on 27 February at 9pm on BBC One.
