The mysterious alien is making a comeback to the Star Trek universe.
With the second season of 'Star Trek: Picard' on the horizon, a new trailer for the series has been released with the return of some familiar faces.
In the latest glimpse of the new series, we’re treated with another look at John de Lancie as the ominous Q and a first look at Whoppi Goldberg’s return as Guinan.
The actress is making her way back to the Star Trek universe to help Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard, who has, once again, come up against his old nemesis, Q.
Q is an omnipotent and powerful alien who has decided he must get back at humanity (and Picard) for their alleged crimes, which he outlined in the first episode of Star Trek The Next Generation.
The alien returns this series to transport Picard and his team to an alternate universe, as part of their punishment, where Earth and the Federation have fallen under a totalitarian regime.
To save humanity and himself, Picard has to turn to the only person he knows can help. This is, of course, Guinan.
The admiral is sent on a mission that also sees him travelling back in time to Los Angeles in 2024, with the help of the Borg Queen, played by Annie Wersching.
Also joining the cast will be Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Orla Brady, Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Brent Spiner.
Goldberg’s character, Guinan, first appeared on Star Trek in 1988 in the second season of the original series and has popped up in different episodes since.
She first appears to be a bartender at Ten-Forward but is quickly revealed to be much more than that.
Guinan is an alien who is hundreds of years old and known for her wisdom and kindness, which she has historically used to get others out of sticky situations.
Star Trek: Picard premieres on Prime Video in the UK on 4 March and Paramount+ on 3 March.
