It's a busy time for Spider-Man. The superstar actor is trading his top-to-toe Lycra jumpsuit for some old school tap shoes. Yes, the 25-year-old has bagged the lead as Fred Astaire in a new project on the late legend.

Busy promoting the superhero sequel No Way Home which lands in cinemas on December 17, he addressed the rumours about playing the iconic showman. He said casually: "Oh I am playing Fred Astaire, yeah.

"The script came in a week ago. I haven't read it yet. They haven't given it to me."

He told faces at the press conference that he knows producer Amy Pascal 'has the script' and delighted everyone by telling them: "She FaceTimed me earlier. I was in the bath."

They 'had a lovely FaceTime, but I will be playing Fred Astaire', he confirmed.

Holland is no stranger to singing and dancing. The multi-talented star played Billy Elliot in the West End from 2008 to 2010 and burnt fans' retinas with a stunning dancing mash-up of Singin' In the Rain from Gene Kelly's musical and Rihanna's Umbrella in 2017 on Lip Sync Battle.

He wrote alongside the trailer for Spider-Man: "We just debuted the trailer to a theatre of fans and the reaction was incredible. Thank you for supporting me throughout my Spider-Man career. Your love and support continues to blow my mind and I couldn’t be more grateful. This film is for you and I hope it brings you as much joy as it has for me. Love you guys 3000!"

If he could FaceTime us while he's in the bath then that will bring us even more joy...
