Chariots of Fire actor shares surprising family bond to the comedian, Jack Whitehall, on This Morning.
Renowned actor Nigel Havers, known for his roles in Chariots of Fire and various other film and television projects, made a guest appearance on Thursday's, 4th January, episode of This Morning, revealing an unexpected and heartwarming connection to comedian Jack Whitehall.
As it turns out, Nigel Havers is Jack Whitehall's godfather, and their relationship is rooted in a longstanding bond with Jack's father, Michael Whitehall, who served as Nigel's agent.
Nigel Havers shed light on the close ties between the Havers and Whitehall families, emphasising the depth of their connection.
Michael Whitehall, besides being Jack's father, also worked as Nigel's agent, managing a roster of stars that included Colin Firth and Judi Dench.
The camaraderie was so strong that Nigel was present at Jack Whitehall's birth, a testament to the enduring friendship between the families.
Recalling the unique circumstances of Jack's birth, Nigel shared: "[Michael] told me to come into the hospital. As I walked into the ward, Hilary was giving birth! I walked straight into that scenario."
The actor fondly described Jack as a 'fantastic boy' reminiscing about attending one of Jack's early performances at a pub in Putney.
Nigel humorously added, after the performance: "I said, 'Do you know something Jack, have you ever considered being a doctor?' I was wrong!"
Apart from delving into his personal connections, Nigel Havers engaged in conversation with Josie Gibson, a participant in the recent series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!
Having experienced the jungle firsthand in 2010, Nigel didn't mince words about his dislike for the show, stating: "I hated it, and that's not even a strong enough word. The boredom got me, I wanted to kill someone."
Josie shared her own challenges from the jungle, highlighting the relentless rain and the struggle to stay dry.
Of her time on the show, Josie said: "My jungle, it rained consecutively for two and a half weeks. You're constantly trying to get dry and you're forever damp. You only get two pairs of socks."
The conversation continued to touch on the demanding conditions of the reality show, providing viewers with a glimpse into the less glamorous side of the jungle experience.
Josie herself has supposedly been inundated with several lucrative offers and further TV work since her appearance on the Australian based reality show.
It has quelled some worries for Josie, who, after winning Big Brother in 2010, initially believed that she wouldn't be able to acquire further work on television.
However, she has been a fairly regular appearance on our television sets with regular appearances on the panel shows such as Celebrity Juice, 8 Out of 10 Cats, The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, as well as being a fairly regular presenter on This Morning since 2019.
It would seem that her own insecurities are unfounded, as she has managed to create a career on our screens for over a decade.
Of her potential future in entertainment, a source told The Sun: "Offers are already coming in thick and fast since she entered the jungle.
"Josie already had a loyal fanbase but it has massively grown since she went in.
"She could be seen to pocket a lot of cash in commercial deals and endorsements where she will be able to pick and choose what she wants. She will be very hot property."
