Race Across the World is back on BBC One tonight (22nd March) for its highly anticipated third season.

The BAFTA-award winning show will see five new teams face the challenge of racing across 16,000 kilometres through the Canadian wilderness. They will have to do so without smartphones, internet access or credit cards and all they will have at their disposal is the cash equivalent of the airfare to fly the route and the kindness of strangers.

In tonight’s episode, we will meet the teams as they begin their journey in Stanley Park, Vancouver and make their way to Tlell on the island of Haida Gwaii.

As usual, it won’t be plain sailing for everyone and one couple struggles to find their bearings almost immediately, getting lost within the grounds of the park for two hours.

For married couple Zainib and Mobeen, the challenge comes when they decide to ski at the resort of Whistler and end up stranded in the mountains without any access to public transport. The pair decide they need to put their different approaches aside to find a solution.

Father and Daughter, Kevin and Claudia, also admitted how much harder the process was than they had expected.

Speaking exclusively to virginradio.co.uk, they revealed it didn’t take long for them to question giving up.

When asked if there was ever a time they wanted to quit, Claudia said: “Absolutely, I think that was day three that we really had to question ourselves!

Kevin added: “I almost think it was every other day as well when we were doing the race, because it was quite a pressurised environment. There's times when you think to yourself, ‘can I do this?’ You've just got to almost talk to yourself and say, ‘just calm down. It's just keep going and let's just see where we end up.’”

With a cash prize of £20,000 at the finish line, it is no wonder the stakes are high for the racers!

Race Across The World series three will return on Wednesday 22nd March at 9pm, on BBC One and iPlayer. Season two is currently available on BBC iPlayer.
