Michael Cashman joined Graham Norton and shared the overwhelmingly positive response he's had to his memoir 'One Of Them', out in paperback now.

"The letters I've had, the responses on social media... People are really pleased that I've been honest about all the amazing things, all the outrageous things and the darkness that I experienced for many years as a young boy and then as a teenager, and finally meeting someone and developing a not-very-straightforward and common relationship"

Although wistful in parts, 'One Of Them' remembers the good times and tongue-in-cheek moments of Michael's life. Sharing memories of his late partner Paul Cottingham, he reminisced "Paul was 13 years younger than me, it was Barbara Windsor that introduced us up in Scarborough!"

More name-drops follow in the memoir itself, from stories of a civil partnership near miss and bump-ins at events.

"It's a bit like listening to a broadcast. You know when someone's being honest, and you know when somebody's flannelling and nevermoreso when you tell a lifestory" he said, explaining his reflections.

"Unless you celebrate the life you've had, and unless you celebrate the fact that it's only love, you know, that sustains you, it's only love that gets you through. Unless you celebrate that, what's the point of the 70 years?"

Michael's memoir 'One Of Them' is out in paperback on Thursday the 18th February.
