The hilarious raconteur, Rhy James, told Nick Grimshaw on The Graham Norton Radio Show with Waitrose that he isn't into fads such as the Wim Hof Method or... marriage.

Moments before he had to rushed off to start his run of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, jokingly implying that he'd be taking a 'limo' the whole way there, James told Grimshaw a few of his dislikes that would feature in the show.

This included the current trend of admiring the lifestyle of Wim Hof, the Dutch motivational speaker and 'superhuman', as well as the 'outdated' practise of marrying someone you love.

In the lighthearted exchanged, James started with explaining his frustration around Hof: "Yeah, him personally [with Hof].

"No, actually, it's more people sort of trying to do the Wim Hof Method now. I find it a bit embarrassing, but also because their way of doing it is just a cold shower in the morning."

This is in reference to people thinking they can recreate the, supposedly, beneficial consequences of Hof's death defying ice plunges, in the Arctic circle, with slightly below comfortable temperature power showers.

He continued: "People are like, you've got to have that cold shower because it invigorates you, and it makes you more productive.

"I'm like, why do you want to be more productive to go and work for someone else, you maniac?!?"

He added: "Unless you're doing something that's your own thing. But even then... the life hack productivity, right? It isn't. It isn't a cold shower.

James then let people in on a little bit of his own personal productivity advice, quipping: "The secret, you know this, the secret to getting anything done is something more important you're supposed to be doing.

"That's how you get stuff done, isn't it? So you just have to always put some stuff in the diary. That's why houses always tidiest when you've got a big deadline or something. Because you just go 'right, I'll procrastinate."

Not yet satisfied with doling out life advice, Rhys then outlined why he feels marriage is 'outdated'.

In fact, he has once labelled the sacred and special tradition for many as 'stupid'.

Back-pedalling slightly to explain, James said: "It's more just like marriage, it's a risk anyway.

"We know the stats on marriage now. And it's like, it's an old analogy, but if you were told this parachute will fail over 50% of the time you'd go:'Well I won't jump out the plane then.',"

With one final witty flourish on the matter, James joked: "Marriage to me is like, [basically] just saying, I bet you half your stuff, [that] you won't love me forever. That's all it is. It's a big gamble that you're taking."

Nick Grimshaw will continue to present The Graham Norton Radio Show with Waitrose throughout August. Listen on Virgin Radio or catch up on-demand here.
