Everyone’s favourite comedy giant and BGT judge joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky to talk about his new fairytale special.
Excited about his new festive offering of the After Ever After series, he said: “It’s the idea of creating sequels to fairy stories. Last year we did Cinderella and this year we’re doing Jack and the Beanstalk.
“It’s what happens at the end of the story. It’s always, ‘And Jack lived happily ever after,’ or did he?
“What happened next? What happened if the giant wasn’t dead? What happened if the giant had fallen to the ground and lost his memory and doesn’t know that Jack chopped down the beanstalk?
“Sheridan Smith stars as the giant hunter and there's Blake Harrison from The Inbetweeners, and I’m in it playing the giant.
“I think it’s a good way of revising the stories and finding something new. What if this is a nice giant? What happens if they become friends and help each other, so hopefully there’s a positive message in there.
“Also it’s great to have something to watch with the kids.”
Working with Sheridan again, he said: “She hunts giants, she has an eyepatch which she takes off and underneath it is she has a glass eye which she uses to kill them.
“She’s brilliant in it and we’ve worked together before and we love each other, so it was a joy to work with her again.”
So which giant would David hunt down if he had the choice? He laughed: “The first person would be Richard Osman, who’s number one in the book charts.”
