Zach Braff has opened up about the ‘impossible’ moment Morgan Freeman agreed to appear in his new movie, A Good Person, alongside Florence Pugh.

The director joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch earlier this month to talk about the new film, which comes out in cinemas today (24th March), and how he managed to get one of the world’s most iconic actors onboard.

Speaking about the moment he realised Freeman would be involved, Braff told Chris: “I reached out to him and I never thought- it’s an indie and Morgan doesn’t do a tonne of low budget indie movies. I didn’t think he would say yes but he was my dream.

“So I reached out to him and within two days, he called me and he said ‘I see myself on every page of this script’. I was like, ‘Does that mean yes?’ and he said, ‘Yeah, I’m in.’”

Braff then described the only appropriate way to react when Morgan Freeman agrees to star in your movie.

You can watch the full interview below:

He said: “I danced around my living room jumping up and down. I couldn't believe it because it just felt impossible. You know, there are some legendary actors like that who love to do a little indie and then go back and forth to big studio movies.

“Morgan stereotypically is not that kind of a guy. And so, I didn't think we really had a chance, but he said yes. We need to make a movie in 26 days for no money and he said yes!”

Freeman will be starring alongside award-winning actress Florence Pugh in the movie, which Braff said was influenced by his own experiences of loss.

The film follows the story of Allison (Pugh), a young woman in the prime of her life with a wonderful fiancé, blossoming career and supportive circle of family and friends around her. However, her entire world crumbles in an instant when she survives a horrific car accident, emerging from recovery with an opioid addiction and trauma.

In the years following the accident, she forms an unlikely friendship with her would-be father-in-law as she tries to put her life back on track.

A Good Person is out in select cinemas from 24th March and will be available nationwide from 31st March.
