The Rob & Ramesh Vs star joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky to talk about his two TV shows, a love of immersive art and being starstruck by his hip hop icon.

Following Chris Evans’ radio interview with grunge god Dave Grohl earlier, Romesh said about his own music guest.

He admitted: “I do this hip hop podcast and we had DJ Premier who's a hip hop legend and I'll be honest with you, I just fell to pieces.

“I couldn't listen to it back because I found myself so embarrassing.”

On Rob & Ramesh Vs currently staying in the UK instead of heading off far and wide, he said: “When we’re talking to Sky or the production team, we’re saying 'we’ve got to go big, this has got to be adventurous' and then if you manage to pull that off without leaving the UK then it becomes a huge problem.

“So, I don't know what we're going to do. It's sort of this weird thing where I think I do want the series to be successful, but not too successful. I still want to go away.

“It was a difficult one because we wanted to do the series and obviously you've got to do it safely but it's that thing where we sat down and said 'can we make this show good under the restrictions?' with what we want to do because we'd had so much fun with the first series you don't want to undermine that.

“People will forgive so much, but at the end of the day you want the show to be good so we managed to figure out a way that we felt we were able to deliver a show to the same standard.

"The production team has been amazing too, so Rob and I are really buzzing about it, it's great.”

Talking about making art with a view to displaying it in the Saatchi Gallery on the show, he said: “We both basically interpreted it in our own way. I loved it, I properly love performance art.

“The problem with performance art as a comic is your instinct is to make it funny or have a laugh at it but actually when you do that you are undermining what you're doing.

“It was a difficult one… every time we did something that made us laugh our performance art expert said ‘this is not what it's supposed to be about, you should not be looking for the laugh here'.

"But I loved it, I really enjoyed it.”

Rob & Romesh Vs. is on Thursdays at 10pm on Sky One

The Ranganation returns this Sunday 7th Feb at 9pm on BBC Two
