Dave Grohl has surprised the audience at a charity gig in Los Angeles with an unplanned performance.

The Foo Fighters frontman joined a line-up of famous faces at an intimate charity gig helmed by Judd Apatow on Tuesday (16th August).

Grohl, who will head to the UK next month for the tribute concert dedicated to Taylor Hawkins, got up on stage with the likes of Beck, Jack Black, Kyle Glass, Sarah Silverman, Greg Justin, John C. Reilly and Seals & Croft’s Summer Breeze.

The event in aid of Victims First- a charity dedicated to ensuring that all victims and witnesses of crime get the support they need.

Initially, Beck was the only person booked for the headline slot and according to Variety, they performed a short acoustic set including hits like Debra, Cyanide Breath Mint and a cover of The Rolling Stones’ Dead Flowers.

The gig came as part of a string of benefit shows held at the Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles and a video uploaded to the venue’s official Instagram shows the moment the Foo Fighters frontman joined Beck onstage, much to the surprise of the audience.

In the caption, they wrote: “It wasn't enough that #JuddApatow threw a benefit for @victimsfirstorg and invited #Beck to do a set (accompanied on the piano by mega producer #GregKurstin)... then #TenaciousD were like, how about we do some songs too (thank you #JackBlack and #KyleGass)...so of course #JohnCReilly happened to find himself onstage for the inevitable collaboration jam between these two musical giants...

“but THEN... out of seemingly nowhere #DaveGrohl figured he would contribute "Yacht-rock musical sound effects" at the chorus. Nothing is more fun than a Judd benefit show. Every. Time.”

As previously mentioned, Grohl is set to appear at the tribute concerts for the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins when they take place at London’s Wembley Stadium next month on 3rd September.

A whole host of music legends have been confirmed in the line-up for the tribute concerts, and you can find out who will be there here.
