Rocker Billy Idol is coming back with a brand new EP, and to give fans a taste of it, he has unveiled the title-track.
Following last year’s EP, The Roadside, the musician will release The Cage, which features four new songs. The fresh offering - which lands on 23rd September - will once again feature Idol’s long-time collaborator, co-writer and guitarist Steve Stevens.
In a statement, the artist said: “The last EP, we were kind of warming up to this. This EP is a lot more coming at you. Loads more guitar. And that’s a lot of fun.”
Idol continued: “We were pretty fired up by the fact that we hadn’t played for a couple of years, and suddenly we were bursting on stage, and it kind of woke us up to what the next EP could be: that it could be a little more sturm und drang, a little more coming at you, a little more rock ‘n’ roll, a little more f*** you!
“Well, a tiny bit of f*** you, anyhow. The bottom line is we had a lot of fun doing it.”
Lead-single Cage also opens the EP. You can check it out, and its video, directed by Steven Sebring, here:
Commenters were impressed with the new tune. One wrote: “Right on, Billy and Steve!!! Lots of love out here for you guys - so glad you're both still rockin' us. I've been a huge fan since the early '80s and always will be.”
Someone else added: “Killer video and song! Billy keeps putting out great material. Really unbelievable!”
The Cage EP is available to pre-order on CD, and vinyl (including limited edition red vinyl). The official website states that a limited supply of signed copies are available while they last.
The tracklist is as follows:
1. Cage // 2. Running from the Ghost // 3. Rebel Like You // 4. Miss Nobody
The legendary artist will be playing some shows across the UK September and October, having previously been forced to postpone them from earlier in the year.
He will start his run of shows in Manchester on 13th October, before then heading to Cardiff on the 17th. Two days later, he is at Wembley, before playing Glasgow on the 21st and Birmingham on the 23rd. Billy will then conclude his UK dates in Leeds on October 25th.
