With Reading and Leeds just around the corner, The 1975 have been announced as the latest headliners, replacing Rage Against The Machine on the bill.

Following medical guidance, Rage Against the Machine are unfortunately not able to take on the August and September UK and European leg of their tour, and have therefore had to cancel their headline slots at Reading and Leeds. And so the door has opened for The 1975 to make a triumphant return to Leeds’ legendary Bramham Park on the Friday and Reading’s famous Richfield Avenue on the Sunday of the August bank holiday.

The Manchester four-piece play have a history of topping the bill at Reading and Leeds, as they played acclaimed headline sets at both sites in 2019.

The 1975’s headline festival sets come ahead of the release of their hotly-anticipated fifth album, called Being Funny in a Foreign Language. The record will land on Friday 14th October, and available to pre-order now at the1975.com.

The band dropped their new single, Happiness, at the start of the month. Check it out here:

Reading and Leeds Festival will once again welcome hundreds of acts across numerous stages between 26th and 28th August. Along with the newly-announced 1975, fans are no donut excited to see the return of Arctic Monkeys for a huge headline set, while indie-pop favourites Bastille, alt-rock band Wolf Alice, and Liverpool's Circa Waves will all draw big crowds.

Also headlining are acclaimed rappers Dave and Megan Thee Stallion, as well as Sheffield alt-metallers Bring Me The Horizon and American singer and songwriter Halsey.

Along with loads more musical acts, the festival also hosts a comedy stage, with the likes of Russell Howard, Munya Chawawa, Joanne McNally and Reginald D. Hunter all set to perform.

Sounds like a cracking weekend to us!
