Sorry Sk8er Boi fans - you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to see Avril Lavigne live.

The Canadian pop-punk royalty has just announced she is rescheduling her upcoming UK and European tour to 2023.

In a statement shared to her social media, Avril revealed how the pandemic had caused her to make the ‘heartbreaking’ decision.

She said: “To my fans in Europe and the UK, I have some unfortunate news to share with you all about my UK and European dates. I have to make the difficult decision to postpone this tour until 2023.

“Due to the ongoing issues surrounding the pandemic, there are a series of real and venue restrictions from country to country that have made the tour not possible to happen. It’s not an easy decision, but it’s one that will help ensure that we are able to play every single date of the tour, put on the best show possible at full capacity, and operate in a safe environment.

“It breaks my heart to do this, but I know it will be worth the wait.”

The good news is the new UK/EU dates for Avril’s tour have already been moved to April and May next year, with the gigs kicking off in London on 7th May at the Brixton Academy.

Meanwhile, Avril fans do still have something to look forward to. The I’m With You singer is still releasing her seventh album Love Sux on February 25th, so not long now!

Last month, Avril called working with Blink-182 icon Mark Hoppus ‘a huge honour’ as they teamed up for her latest project.

She joined Hoppus on his Apple Music Hits show, After School Radio, and said: “I was really excited to work with you. I mean, to be honest, you’re one of my favourite artists.”

Lavigne continued: “[1997 Blink album] ‘Dude Ranch’ and ‘Enema Of The State’ [1999]"

"Those were the records I was listening to in high school, and as a teenager, I feel like they were really impactful on me as I was coming into my own musical identity."

Avril said she worked on ‘All I Wanted’ remotely “over Zoom, which was different”.

“I mean, I was so excited and I was really impressed with how efficient you are in the studio,” she recalled. “You write, you record yourself, you can engineer, you sing, you’re playing.

"And so having you on the album is a huge honour for me. So I’m really excited about our collaboration.”

It's definitely a Blink-182 affair, as the album is being released on drummer Travis Barker's label, DTA Records.
