Cliff Richard's Mistletoe and Wine? Mariah's All I Want For Christmas? Or Rage Against The Machine’s Killing In The Name Of? It's time to have your say and vote for your all-time top festive hit.
The Official Charts and Nine Eight Books are launching a campaign to discover the nation's favourite yuletide tune over the past 69 years. That's a lot of Christmas music.
So how do we vote?
Go to the Official Charts Twitter page (@OfficialCharts) every day at 12pm from 26 November to make your mark on music history. The final vote will be on Thursday 16 December with the results announced on 17 December 2021 to crown the winner of the 70th Official Christmas Number 1 race and see in the launch of The Official Christmas No. 1 Singles Book.
Need some reminding of the classics? There's Band Aid (1984) and Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone (1985) to 1952’s Here In My Heart by Al Martino, Last Christmas by Wham! and the less traditional but just as punchy 2020’s Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ by LadBaby and so much more.
Pete Selby, Publishing Director at Nine Eight Books Publishing said: “There are only ever two perennial festive questions we should trouble ourselves with. Firstly, ‘Is Father Christmas real?’. The answer to which is ‘Of course’.
And secondly, ‘Is Don’t You Want Me? by Human League the Greatest Ever Christmas Number One Single?’ To which the answer is… well, I guess we’ll find out. Get voting!”
