The legendary frontman of The Who is hitting the road to bring a very special evening of classics from his iconic rock band, as well as rarities, solo hits and fan Q&A sessions.

Entitled the ‘Who Was I?’ tour, Roger Daltrey’s new show will visit cities all over the UK this November and December, including Birmingham, Manchester, London, Brighton, Glasgow, and many more places along the way.

Getting back in front of audiences is clearly important to the singer, who recently performed at Chris Evans’ own CarFest. “The truth is singers need to sing,” Daltrey said in a statement. “Use it or lose it,” he added.

He continued: “Throughout my life I have sung with so many great musicians, from the heavy rock of The Who and Wilko Johnson, to the Irish lilt of The Chieftains. On this tour I want to take the audience on a musical journey through my career as a singer, with a show of songs and sounds that explores and surprises. I look forward to having closer contact with my audience than festivals and arenas allow. Leaving time to chat.”

The show will comprise a mix of music and conversation, and during the evening the artist will dig into his back catalogue, plucking tracks from his nine solo albums, and his record with Wilko Johnson. Fans of The Who will be delighted to learn that he will also be reinterpreting a few classics from his old band.

The 77-year-old also stated the importance of getting live music back up and running again, following a bleak time for the industry. “It's important to get our road crew working again, without these guys the halls would go silent,” he said.

“It's also clear that live music is an important part of all our lives, something to free us from the groundhog days that life has become. This pandemic has brought home to me what an important part of me singing is and it's made me determined to get back onstage asap. See you soon!”
