Well, it worked out alright for Ed Sheeran! Lewis Capaldi is joining the ranks of artists taking a break from social media to work on new music.

The Scottish superstar has had an incredible rise to fame, with his debut album 'Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent' regularly breaking records and taking over the charts.

In typical Lewis Capaldi style, he announced the news to his fans on social media in his hilariously self-deprecating manner.

“Honestly been the most incredible few years and it means the world to have the support of all of you. Going to f*** off for a wee bit now to crack on and finish the second album. Won’t be using social media so you’ll all have to make do without me talking s**** and constantly trying to take your money by flogging you something" he wrote.

“Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and I’ll see you big lovely b******* later in the year with some new music that I imagine will be universally panned by critics and will fail to be as commercially successful as my last outing" he says, tongue in cheek.

“Thus spelling the beginning of the end of the 15 minutes of fame that quite frankly, I never deserved in the first place. IT’S ALL VERY EXCITING. LOVE YOU, STAY SAFE AND BYE FOR NOW.”

He's made it official on Twitter too, changing his bio to “see ya soon x”.

The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) revealed today that Capaldi’s 2019 debut ‘Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent' was the UK’s best-selling album in 2020, for the second year in a row.

Ed Sheeran took an extended break from social media and music after his gruelling Divide tour, but recently made a comeback (briefly) to release a new single.
