A new lyric video for hit single Tears Dry On Their Own features previously unseen footage of Amy Winehouse.

The song was released as a single in 2007, having featured on the late artist’s second studio album, Back To Black in 2006.

Now, with a biopic film of the singer-songwriter’s life set to land in cinemas this Thursday (12th April), a new lyric video has been shared on the official Amy Winehouse YouTube channel.

The video has been created from previously unseen rushes from the original official music video, which was shot in Los Angeles, California, and directed by David LaChapelle.

The new clip shows Amy on the streets and in the motels of LA, and also features candid moments between takes.

Watch it here:

The new biopic about the celebrated singer - who died on 23rd July, 2011, aged just 27 -  was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and written by Matt Greenhalgh. Called Back to Black, it stars Marisa Abela as Amy Winehouse and Jack O’Connell as her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

Eddie Marsan also features as Amy’s dad, Mitch Winehouse. He joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar to discuss the new film, telling Chris: “I think the courage of Sam as a director and Matt, the writer, is that they didn't want to go for this binary narrative of both Mitch and Blake being the villains. What Sam wanted to do with the idea of Blake, she wanted to see why Amy fell in love with him, because the film was shot from Amy's perspective.”

Ahead of the film’s release, virginradio.co.uk was at the World Premiere in London on Monday night (8th April) to speak to its stars. Sam Taylor-Johnson told us about the “big responsibility” of making the film. Read about it here.

And music producer Giles Martin revealed to us how Elton John helped him get involved in the movie.

Back To Black is in UK cinemas on Friday 12th April.
