The start of 2023 is prime time for a spring clean, and maybe you're planning to organise your house.

You want to declutter your home and have things smelling fresh.

One social media user has shared her top tips for keeping clothing delightfully scented.

Julia shares her hacks under @_boringbb_, and she specialises in vintage clothing.

Her grandma has now given her a useful trick she has sworn by for years.

She shared the handy tricks on TikTok: "Anyone else rip out those magazine fragrance testers and shove them in your drawers to keep your clothes smelling nice? I did up until a few months ago."

Julia explains a newer trick that she has been converted to.

She visited her grandma and noticed that bars of soap were wrapped up in the drawers alongside her clean clothing.

Julia asked why the bars were stored in there instead of the bathroom.

Her grandma replied: ‘”Oh honey, you didn’t know? That’s how you keep your clothes smelling nice.”‘

The TikToker elaborated: "Apparently, if you take a nice neutral wrapped bar of soap, this one is lavender, but you can use cotton or whatever, it will last 15 to 20 years.

"I had no idea but I tried it out for a few months and it’s amazing. My clothes smell amazing. Definitely give it a go."

Julia emphasised the importance of using neutral soap and to make sure that the bar is wrapped in paper, not plastic.

She continues: "Try to find a scent that would not overwhelm someone and simply place it in the corner with your clothes or linens.

"It will make everything very subtly smell great and last so many years."

TikTok has plenty of money-saving hacks to get your home clean.

If you're planning a holiday for 2023, these tips might help you to cut corners, too.
