Many people are looking for ways to cut costs this Christmas, and slow-cooking the turkey could be one way to do it.

Slow cookers aren't just for soups and stews, oh no.

You can bake cakes and also roast meats with a slow cooker, and one person even made a full English breakfast in one.

According to Metro, uSwitch reports that slow cookers are the most energy efficient kitchen appliance by far.

It will also free up the oven for you to make the vegetables and side dishes, making life easier.

For best results, make sure you season the turkey well with salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme and sage.

If you want to try something different you can go for garlic, onion powder, parsley, and paprika.

To make sure your turkey doesn't dry out then make sure you add one litre of water into the slow cooker.

Next, set your slow cooker to low.

It needs to be cooked for around three to four hours.

It will be done when the meat thermometer reads 75 degrees Celsius at the thickest part.

If you want it to be browned it will need to go in the oven or under the grill for 15-20 minutes.

It is definitely cheaper than having your oven running all day.
