There's not much else in life that's as satisfying as rubbing your eyes, so when one person revealed what it looks like in an MRI scan, people can't get enough.

The clip, shared on Reddit, shows exactly what happens behind the scenes and backstage of our amazing eyes in the scan which 'uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body'.

The video footage sees a person rubbing their peepers, then it flips to an MRI scan and shows the eyeball moving around. It explains: "This is what eye rubbing looks like through an MRI scanner."

The second MRI scan shows two eyeballs moving around in their sockets and viewers have been left slightly freaked out.

One person wrote: "It’s basically massaging the back of your eye sockets with your eyeballs, worth it."

While another said: "I get cluster headaches a lot and I could see the relief through the video."

A third added: "Absolutely! If I feel tired. Just 3mins rubbing both my eyes will do. After rubbing my both eyes, I feel refreshed, that's for real."

"I have occasional bouts of giant papillary conjunctivitis, and rubbing my eyes is PURE ECSTASY," said a fourth.

One squeamish viewer commented: "Some things should remain unseen."

According to Healthline, rubbing your eyes too hard can be dangerous and 'might damage the lens of your eye or the cornea'.

The website explains: "This could result in vision impairment or an infection that needs medical attention. You should call your doctor right away if you experience: eye pain; light sensitivity; reduced vision; blurry vision; redness or inflammation; headache; nausea and fatigue."

To rub or not to rub? That is the question.
