You can get paid £30k to eat cheese - but there’s a catch

Do you like the sound of a cool £30,000 and a year’s supply of cheesy snacks? You do? Well, you’ll be pleased to learn that snack brand Brew City are on the hunt for a Chief Snacking Officer. 

If you’re anything like us, Chief Snacking Officer is a dream job title, and this particular role will see one lucky person get the opportunity to become the official brand taste tester and go on a market research trip to Boston with two friends. However - and here's the catch - to have a chance, you have to be called Gary.

Seriously. 

Yes, Brew City have stipulated that all applicants for Chief Snacking Officer have to have the name Gary. 

The somewhat strange requirement comes as part of the brand’s new #WeWantGary campaign, following their online campaign to lure Gary Lineker away from his deal with Walkers Crisps. The Match of the Day host is one of three people that Brew City follow on Instagram, with ex-Manchester United player Gary Neville and musician Gary Numan being the other two.

If you are called Gary, then you can enter by simply following Brew City on Twitter/Instagram, liking the relevant posts and commenting by saying what your first act as Chief Snacking Officer would be - and why!

Brew City Product Manager, Becky Slater said: “We did our best to steal crisp fan Gary from Leicester, as we thought it was about time he backed a proper snack like ours. We always knew it would be a long shot and in the end he couldn’t be torn from the ready salted packets he’s eaten since the early 90s.

“Now, Brew City are on the hunt to find a rival Gary to crown the ‘King of Snacks’ and help celebrate a new, more exciting, era of snacking.

“We believe our superior hot bites deserve a Chief Snacking Officer who can dedicate some serious time to enjoying them, in exchange for a whopping £30,000. Who wouldn’t want to get paid to eat a years supply of cheese!?

“It might even be worth changing your name to Gary!”

A panel of judges, featuring YouTuber JaackMaate and Instagram influencer Kate Ovens, will make a decision on which Gary deserves the gig. 

Applications are now open and close on 13th May.
