Forget the dancefloor- Kirsty wants to look good on the ski slopes.
Next week marks the start of the Winter Olympics 2022 in Beijing, and hoping to make an impression, is Team GB’s Kirsty Muir.
How is she going to do it? With the help of her Arctic Monkeys soundtrack.
Kirsty is the youngest member of Team GB at just 17 -years old, and she’s got high hopes for the competition.
She began listening to music when training because she believes it has a psychological effect and allows her to land crazy tricks like the ‘DUB 12’ jump, which makes your stomach flip by just watching it.
In an article for The Independent, she explained: “I listen to music while I compete. I didn’t use to but that’s one of the things that has helped with the mental side of the sport. It just helps me get into the flow and relax a bit.
“It takes the focus off the competition and onto the skiing.”
According to her, the best thing to listen to is the Arctic Monkeys.
She said: “My favourite thing to listen to is definitely the Arctic Monkeys- I really like them, and they’re definitely one of my favourites.
“I think there’s a good beat and flow in the songs- they get you ready, and that’s what I like.”
Maybe we’ll have to try that out!

With just ten days to go until the opening event of the Winter Olympics, Kirsty is putting the final touches on her preparation.
She started skiing at just three years old and began practicing on the dry slopes of Aberdeen Snowsports Club.
At 13, she won three big air, slopestyle and halfpipe events at the BRITS Championships and at 16, she became a silver medalist at the Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne.
Speaking about her feelings towards the Winter Olympics, she said: “I’m super excited for the whole experience.”
She added: “I’m definitely proud to represent Aberdeen and am looking forward to having the chance to do it on the big stage.
“You go to the course, and you don’t know exactly what tricks you’re going to be doing.
“You can see photos, but you don’t know how this course feels. Getting my DUB 12 with the good grab would be good.”
We’ve got all our fingers and toes crossed for you Kirsty, and we’ll be listening to the Arctic Monkeys on repeat.
