Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll all get the opportunity to dig our Christmas jumpers out of the back of the wardrobe and impress our friends with them. However, if you can't find yours, then a jumper has just gone on sale which is really impressive.

However, if you want to buy it, then you’ll have to break open the piggy bank. In fact, you’ll have to break open a few piggy banks, because it is available to buy at a cool £30,000.

Yes indeed, the world’s most expensive jumper is now on sale.

It was created during lockdown by 33-year-old artist Aidan Liban, who has spent six months, not to mention all of his savings, creating a diamond-encrusted sweater.

Aidan made the item of clothing while working part-time as a key worker at a charity.  But how did he go about creating the world’s most expensive sweater?

Well, first of all, he spent £7,000 of his own money buying the materials. If you’re thinking that seven grand seems like a lot of money, then you haven’t taken into account that the jumper includes 24 carat gold thread, 2,000 Swarovski crystals and lining made from Italian silk.

Oh, and there are 150 diamonds near the collar. Very fancy!

The jumper has a picture of a reindeer wearing a Santa hat and standing in a snowy scene, as colourful snowflakes fall from a deep blue sky.

London-based Aidan said (via Metro): “Christmas jumpers were never really in my family tradition, so I thought I’d do it in style.

“No expense has been spared at all. I’ve done pretty much all it myself aside from a few very delicate bits.”

He added: “I want it to wow people and break up the doom and gloom we’ve been hearing about for the past few years.”

If you end up buying this very snazzy item of clothing, then you’d better make sure that you don’t spill anything on it when you proudly wear it to your work’s Christmas party. Aidan warned: “You can wear it, but it is so delicate it won’t be washable.”

Aidan also added that part of the proceeds from the sale of the lockdown creation will go to the NHS.

Before Aidan’s creation, the world’s most expensive Christmas jumper was made by Tipsy Elves in 2016. It was covered in 24,274 crystals and cost £24,000.
