Taylor Swift has taken to TikTok to criticise recent “invasive and irresponsible” pregnancy rumours about Lady Gaga.

After photos of Gaga attending her sister’s wedding left people speculating online that the ‘Bad Romance’ singer might be pregnant, she took to her social media channels to deny the idea.

“Not pregnant - just down bad cryin at the gym,” Gaga wrote in response to the speculation, quoting from Taylor Swift’s recent The Tortured Poets Department tune ‘Down Bad’ in the process. Gaga also used the post as an opportunity to urge her followers to register to vote.

Responding to the ‘Chromatica’ artist’s post on TikTok, Swift hit out at all who choose to spread rumours and question whether or not female celebrities are pregnant. “Can we all agree that it’s invasive & irresponsible to comment on a woman’s body.

“Gaga doesn't owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman,” Swift’s comment finished.

The ‘Love Story’ singer has herself been the subject of several pregnancy rumours in the past, and addressed how troubling the phenomenon could be in her documentary Miss Americana.

“[I’ve seen] a picture of me where I feel like I looked like my tummy was too big, or…someone said that I looked pregnant… and that’ll just trigger me to just starve a little bit – just stop eating,” the ‘Antihero’ singer admitted while discussing how seeing “pictures of [herself] every day” had eventually caused her to develop an eating disorder.

Swift’s rare comment hitting out at the pregnancy rumours which recently encircled Gaga comes as she is about to begin the UK and Ireland leg of her European Eras Tour.

On Friday 7th June, Swift will perform in Edinburgh, where she will then perform two more shows before moving to Liverpool, Cardiff, Dublin and London later in the month, along with her support act, Paramore.
