The Cleaner season 2: Everything we know about Greg Davies’ new show

Greg Davies will be back on our screens very soon with a brand new season of his BBC One comedy The Cleaner.

The show, based on the German series Der Tatortreiniger, was officially renewed for a second instalment last year with a Christmas special and Davies is set to reprise his role as Wicky once again with some stellar guest stars.

Season two has been penned by Davies himself, alongside co-writers Paul Allen, Ronan Blaney, Barry Castagnola, Meg Stalter and Mike Wozniak.

So, what’s instore for Wicky this time around? Read on for everything you need to know about the new series.

What is it about?  

The show follows Wicky, a single middle-aged man who takes great pride in his job as a Government-certified crime scene cleaner. Naturally, his line of work takes him to all sorts of places where he meets all sorts of people and we can expect a lot more of this in season two.

The beauty of The Cleaner is that each episode is a stand-alone story so it can be pretty much watched in any order, however there were some questions left unanswered in season one- particularly when it came to Wicky’s relationship with police officer Ruth.

Hopefully, we’ll get the romantic ending we’re rooting for!

Who is on the cast?

Of course, Greg will be returning as Wicky and Zita Sattar as Ruth Edwards, but they will be joined by a line-up of guest stars that cannot be missed.

Speaking in a press release about the line up of guest stars, Greg said: "I'm so thrilled Wicky is back for another round of clean ups.

“The cast for this series are brilliant and that there are so many distinguished actors amongst them leads me to believe that The BBC have secrets that they are using as leverage. Me, the writing and production teams are very grateful for this support."

When is it out?

It has been confirmed season two of The Cleaner will be out on 24th March at 9:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
