Wednesday star Jenna Ortega is set to appear in a new movie alongside Barry Keoghan and The Weeknd.

It marks The Weeknd’s (Abel Makkonen Tesfaye) first-ever starring role in a feature film, which he has also penned the script for.

The Banshees of Inisherin star Barry Keoghan will also be appearing in the movie alongside Ortega and co-writer Trey Edwards Shults has been brought on as director, according to Deadline.

Details around the plot have been kept quiet so far but it has been reported Ortega and Keoghan joined the film after being “blown away” by the script.

This comes after Keoghan took home a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor last month for his role as Dominic in The Banshees of Inisherin. The actor has also been nominated for an Academy Award later this year.

Jenna Ortega is also making waves in the TV and film industry at the moment following her starring role as Wednesday Addams in the hit Netflix show, which aired in November last year.

The actress played the youngest member of the family as she went off to a special school for misfit kids and found herself in the middle of dangerous mystery.

It has recently confirmed the series will be returning for a second instalment and will feature more of the beloved Addams family characters, including Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones).

Showrunner Miles Millar revealed: “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters.

The actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine [Zeta-Jones] is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important."
