The final season of Endeavour is on the horizon and a brand-new teaser trailer has been released and things are ramping up.

Fans have been eagerly waiting to see how it will all end for Morse when the first episode of series nine airs on Sunday 26th February.

If the new trailer is anything to go by, it’s going to be full of drama.

The teaser opens with a shot of an extravagant house and Fred Thursday (Roger Allam) telling Morse (Shaun Evans): “Life will divide us into winners and everybody else. Nothing stays buried forever, we get to the bottom of it.”

We then get a glimpse of Fred and Morse at what appears to be a crime scene and some clips of them running around and Morse looking helpless as he stands in the middle of an empty dance hall at the end.

You can watch the trailer below:

Allam, who plays Fred in the series, also hinted there would be some serious family drama for his character too.

He admitted things will get difficult between him and son Sam, played by Jack Bannon and revealed: “There is a bit of a crisis with Sam. There's my actual son who's drinking far too much this time.

"Well, there's a huge crisis in the family because of the drinking and the chaos that ensues from that. But things are alright with Joan [Sara Vickers].”

Roger also hinted the return of Sam could cause a rift between him and Morse, with things becoming “rock” between them.

The official ITV synopsis for series nine of Endeavour reads: “The new series, set in the early 70s, finds Endeavour and Thursday entering a new era of change both professionally and personally with the return of some familiar faces along the way including Sam, played by Jack Bannon (Pennyworth), who arrives back from Northern Ireland following his service in the British Army."

Endeavour returns to ITV1 on Sunday 26th February at 8pm.
