An all-star cast will lead the upcoming apocalyptic thriller by BAFTA-nominated writer, director and producer Scott Z Burns.
Burns' new eight-part Apple TV+ series Extrapolations has been highly anticipated, after his 2011 film Contagion became one of the most widely streamed films early in the pandemic.
Extrapolations will introduce an impending future where the chaotic effects of climate change play out in everyday lives.
Apple TV Press said the show will explore: "Eight interwoven stories about love, work, faith and family from across the globe will explore the intimate, life-altering choices that must be made when the planet is changing faster than the population.
"Every story is different, but the fight for our future is universal.
"And when the fate of humanity is up against a ticking clock, the battle between courage and complacency has never been more urgent.
"Are we brave enough to become the solution to our own undoing before it’s too late?"
A-listers Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Gemma Chan, Yara Shahidi, and Marion Cotillard will lead this fight for the future.
They will be joined by Friends star David Schwimmer, The White Lotus and The Last of Us’s Murray Bartlett, The Serpent’s Tahar Rahim, Game of Thrones’s Kit Harington and Indira Varma, and The Fabelmans' Oscar nominee Judd Hirsch.
Hari Nef, Diane Lane, Keri Russell, Heather Graham, Edward Norton, Forest Whitaker, Eiza González and Tobey Maguire are also part of the cast, making this the most star-studded film of the year so far.
The first trailer launched on 15 February, drawing the public in with Burns’ moody style and dramatic shots of burning forests.
The trailer starts with Cotillard asserting that: “human history is the story of one terrible catastrophe after another” and ends eerily as Streep tells Miller: “The future is now.”
The first three episodes of Extrapolations come out on 17 March, followed by five weekly episodes.
