Awesome news from here in the UK and a multi award winning festival that’s gone cleaner, greener and who are turning all the festival waste into electricity and fertiliser!

Say hello to The Secret Garden Party, the original boutique festival, who’ve turned a terrible toilet situation last year into an incredible opportunity. Last year loads of the portaloos they rented were delivered without being cleaned.

I don’t have to tell you how horrible that is, so this year they’ve replaced every possible toilet on site with their own compost toilets. All the waste they produce will go into a newly purchased Hydrothermal Pyroliser, which will, as Head Gardner Freddie Fellowes says, literally turn your poo into lasers. The only by-product will be biochar, which is one of the best fertilisers and will be used on Freddie’s farm. This year the lasers will be pulsating to the beats of Underworld, Leftfield, 2ManyDJs, The Libertines, Roisin Murphy, De La Soul, Grandmaster Flash and so much more. A heart-warming story from Canada and a little girl who emptied her piggy bank to help others when she was five has just won Canada's national lottery on her first go!

Say hello to Juliette Lamour, who’s 18, and who, thirteen years ago, was so moved by the stories she saw about the people of Haiti, where there had been a terrible earthquake, that she donated everything she had, the piggy bank she’d saved up for her entire life.

Now it’s as if the Buddhists are right and karma has waited until she was 18 and picked up her first ever lottery ticket. Juliette has won the second biggest ever jackpot, 48 million Canadian dollars, that’s almost 30 million quid! How it happened is also incredibly joyful, she called her grandfather to see if he’d like an ice cream and he said “you’ve just turned 18, buy a lottery ticket and test your luck”. Turns out she’s not just one of the nicest, but also one of the luckiest people on the planet.
