Thomas Skinner has spoken about his viral breakfast videos from Dino’s café and whether he would do I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

The former Apprentice contestant started uploading videos of him eating at his favourite East London Cafe last year and has been going viral on social media for his unusual breakfast choices and motivational words.

Speaking exclusively to virginradio.co.uk about how it all started, Skinner said: “I’ve been going in that caf for years and because we start work so early, what normally happens is we go in the caf, I’ll have a massive dinner for breakfast because a bacon sandwich isn’t going to cut it for me.

“I always give a little motivational speech, ‘come on lads, today we’re going to be on the market, we’re going to give it 110%’. Then one of me pals went ‘I’m going to record it and put it out.’”

He continued: “So we recorded it and people loved it. People were saying ‘This is brilliant, you’ve made me want to go to work. I wasn’t going to go to work today and I watched your video and I feel like giving it an extra 10%’.”

What shocked Tom the most was the amount of messages and attention the videos have received since.

He added: “The amount of messages, I’ve received 1000s and 1000s of messages from the first ones saying ‘Tom I don't think you understand how much it helped me today. I'm in a really bad spot. And I've been feeling down and I felt like giving up and this is this has made me want to carry on again.’

“So I thought you know what, this is helping people, it’s no skin off my back, I love eating in the caf like why don’t we do this every day?”.

His videos still easily hit 100,000 views every day and Tom admitted he was gobsmacked by the attention they get.

He said: “People just love seeing me having a big dinner at 6am and talking a bit of motivational speech. They love it! It’s blinding. You know it’s mad because I can’t go anywhere now without people asking me what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow.”

Tom made his name when appearing on The Apprentice in 2019. Since then, he's competed on Celebrity MasterChef and when asked if he would be up for another competition series, he had one in mind.

He said: "Well, I'm bookies favourite for I'm A Celebrity this year you know, and I had a burger man at the market years ago and I'd literally eat anything so I don't think it'd be a problem for me."

Tom has teamed up with suicide prevention charity CALM to raise awareness and change the narrative around Blue Monday (16th January), which he has renamed BOSH Monday.

Speaking about the campaign, Skinner said: "CALM, firstly, are a fantastic organisation. Today is Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year. It's a sad and you know, money’s tight, weather's horrible and I thought, you know what, no more Blue Monday, let’s have BOSH Monday, put a big smile on people's faces.”
