Sir Kenneth Branagh has been spotted filming his latest Poirot movie, A Haunting in Venice.

The award-winning actor and director will be transforming into Agatha Christie’s infamous detective once again for the movie, which is based on her 1969 novel Halloween Party.

It acts as a sequel to Branagh’s previous Poirot movies, Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and Death on the Nile (2022) and will see the detective living in a self-imposed exile in Venice as part of his retirement.

However, when one of the guests at a séance is murdered, Poirot has to step up once again to hunt down the killer.

Filming started in October last year in Venice and Pinewood Studios, and the movie is expected to hit cinemas in September 2023.

Now, Branagh has been spotted filming in the Italian city as the infamous detective- complete with a dapper moustache and black hat.

In one picture, he can be seen standing stoic on a gondola, holding a black umbrella and his walking stick, and in another, he purposefully strides through the city with a book in hand.

Joining Branagh on the film will be Jamie Dornan and Jude Hill, both of whom he worked with on Belfast- a semi-autobiographical film about his life in Ireland that ended up winning an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

American actress Tina Fey, Black Box star Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio and Golden Globe winner Michelle Yeoh will also appear in the movie.

Previously speaking about the film to Deadline, Branagh said: "This is a fantastic development of the character Hercule Poirot, as well as the Agatha Christie franchise.

“Based on a complex, little-known tale of mystery set at Halloween in a pictorially ravishing city, it is an amazing opportunity for us, as filmmakers, and we are relishing the chance to deliver something truly spine-chilling for our loyal movie audiences."
