Hollywood star Hugh Jackman has opened up about a long-running rumour about his Wolverine days.
It had been suggested Hugh had taken some performance-enhancing drugs, or steroids, in a bid to get buff for the X-Men franchise, but in a new interview on Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace, Hugh finally set the record straight.
During the interview, Hugh was asked: “Over the years people have wondered, did he juice? Did he take steroids?”
Hugh then quickly responded: “No, I love my job. And I love Wolverine. I’ve got to be careful what I say here, but I had been told anecdotally what the side effects are of that.
“And I was like, “I don’t love it that much”. So no, I just did it the old-school way.”
With that rumour finally out of the way, Hugh shared his regime of how he gained all his muscles for the comic book hero, and apologised to “the chickens of the world” for how much meat he ate.
The Marvel actor continued: “I’ve eaten [so many] chickens – I’m so sorry to all the vegans and vegetarians and to the chickens of the world. Literally the karma is not good for me. If the deity has anything related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”
Later on in the interview, Hugh shared he’ll have to train for six months just to return to peak fitness as the Wolverine in Deadpool 3.
The star explained: “I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time. So, we have six months from when I finish [Broadway’s The Music Man] to when I start filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.”
Speaking of Deadpool, Hugh returned to what he does best - trolling his frenemy and co-star Ryan Reynolds by pleading with The Academy to not allow the actor to land an Oscar.
Ryan lent his voice to the track, Good Afternoon, which featured in his Christmas movie Spirited, and it’s gone down so well, that the musical number has now been featured on the Oscars shortlist for Best Song.
Doing his best to ‘beg’ the Academy not to allow his nomination to go through, Hugh posted a pleading video to social media, saying an Oscar nomination for his Deadpool co-star would “make the next year of my life insufferable.”
